Campus Upgrades

We are so excited about some of the things the Lord has allowed us to do in preparation for this school year. Through the contributions of alumni and friends of Hyles-Anderson College, we have been able to upgrade and renovate several areas on campus.

The Campus Bookstore and Coffee Shop has received many upgrades this year. With complete renovations to the coffee shop area, as well as new additions to the books, music, and college merchandise, the Campus Bookstore and Coffee Shop is a destination for our students, staff, and many visitors who stop by our campus.

The Central Lobby is the hub of daily activity on the Hyles-Anderson College campus. This lobby connects all major thoroughfares on campus. As it has been said that “all roads lead to Rome,” all hallways lead to the Central Lobby. A complete remodel of this lobby has made it much more inviting and professional with new seating, lighting, decorations, and digital signage.

This fall we opened a newly-remodeled men’s residence hall. Tom Malone One houses thirty-five young men in furnished rooms with completely updated amenities.

The 340-classroom hallway is home to the sewing room, education classrooms, and offices for the Department of Education. This hallway received a new roof, windows, and infrastructure renovations that will allow it to last for many more years.

We have upgraded and replaced all of the outdoor campus lighting. Security is a big priority at Hyles-Anderson College. To assist our professionally trained security department, the addition of thousands of watts of outdoor lighting in the parking lots, around the walkways and the residence halls, and at the DeCoster Gymnasium makes it much easier to keep our students and property safe and secure. A fully-functional security camera system is monitored 24 hours a day, and there are armed security guards on campus at all times.

There have been new heating and air-conditioning units installed, roofs repaired, doors and windows replaced, and classrooms updated. Perhaps the most recognized upgrades this year came to the Student Recreation Center. This 7,200 square foot facility is home to the “living room” of our college students. It is here they can relax, play games, study, hang out with friends, or watch a televised sporting event. The Student Recreation Center houses foosball tables, air hockey, pool, ping pong, a large selection of board games, and many scheduled events and activities. It is a hot-spot for the campus-wide wireless Internet that is available at no charge to all students and staff.

The Rec Center received a complete renovation. We installed a brand-new ceiling complete with energy-efficient LED lighting. All the carpet has been replaced, walls have been painted, and brand new furnishings have been added. We also added new games, a new pool table, and an entertainment system with a 75inch and two 42 inch LED televisions so everyone can be part of the fun.

While we continue to renovate, upgrade, and remodel the living areas, public areas, and classrooms for our students, you can be a part of what is happening. Any donations made to Hyles-Anderson College are fully tax-deductible and can be designated for specific use on our campus. It is through the generous contributions of our alumni and friends that we are able to do extensive campus upgrades without raising tuition. Hyles-Anderson College remains one of the lowest priced Bible colleges in America while maintaining high academic standards and regularly updated facilities. If you would like to be a part of the future of Hyles-Anderson College, you can contribute here.

What’s Happening Now

Opening Week kicked off on September 1 with our 44th Opening Day. Hundreds of students from all over the world converged on the campus of Hyles-Anderson College. It was a great day with an outdoor cookout for lunch and a big family dinner in the DeCoster Dining Hall that evening. It was so great to see so many graduates, pastors, and friends on campus dropping off their students.

Each year on Opening Day, the Student Employment Resource Center hosts a job fair on our campus. There were nearly 20 different employers available to apply, interview, and hire our students on the spot. The job market in the Chicagoland area is one of the best in the nation. Our students who are willing to work have no trouble finding jobs with adequate compensation to pay their school bills each month.

The ball got rolling on Wednesday morning with Student Orientation and the year’s first chapel service. Pastor Wilkerson preached a great message entitled “Lessons from Elijah.” You can listen to that sermon here.

Full classes began on Friday. This semester we are offering 187 different classes in fifteen different undergraduate majors and fourteen minors. We also offer three different associate degree programs and three graduate programs. The heartbeat of every day at Hyles-Anderson College is chapel. Soul-stirring music and red-hot preaching keep the chapel pulpit hot and the altars full. The spirit in our chapel services is unmatched anywhere else. There is no place like chapel at Hyles-Anderson College.

Opening Week closed out with our annual Ice Cream Social held in the Student Recreation Center. Pastor Wilkerson and his family, along with many administrators, were on hand to spend time with the many new and returning students at Hyles-Anderson College this semester.

You can join in on the fun by watching our video recap of Opening Day.
