45th Annual Pastors’ School
Lifting up Jesus Christ was the theme of the 45th annual Pastors’ School held March 17-20, 2008. The entire student body of Hyles-Anderson College had the opportunity to attend and participate in this international conference.
Every morning began with a teaching session with Dr. Jack Schaap. The afternoon sessions consisted of over 200 different classes in topics such as church growth, the bus ministry, Sunday school programs, Christian music, and Christian education. The Tharp Brothers, the First Baptist Church choir and orchestra, and special groups from Hyles-Anderson College and First Baptist Church sang and played the special music.
Of course, the high point of each day was the evening preaching service. Dr. Jim Binney delivered the opening sermon of the conference on Monday night with a powerful message from Isaiah 6 about seeing the Lord “high and lifted up”. On Tuesday night, Brother Doug Fisher preached a message on being humbled by God. Dr. Larry Brown preached on Wednesday night from the life of Rehoboam on not replacing the gold shields with bronze shields. He applied it to the areas of preaching, holiness, music, prayer, praise, gratitude, and soul winning. For the closing message on Thursday night, Dr. Jack Schaap preached on not letting the circumstances of life keep you from lifting up Christ. During the invitation the platform was filled with hundreds of men surrendering to the call to lift up Christ full-time with their lives.
